Each group identifies a focused theme (e.g., key legislation, court rulings, women in the movement, cultural transformations) and submits a one-page plan outlining:
– Guiding research questions
– Division of labor
– Preliminary source list
Deliverable: Group topic proposal and research plan.

July 1, 2025Annotated Bibliography & Working Thesis
Groups compile an annotated bibliography of 5–7 core sources and submit a 300–500 word summary stating their main argument or narrative arc.
Deliverable: Annotated bibliography + working thesis summary.

Each group submits a full draft (800–1,000 words) of their assigned section. Drafts are exchanged between groups for structured peer feedback using an instructor-provided rubric.

The course equips learners with domain-specific knowledge and AI literacy skills, enabling them to produce high-quality reports on complex social issues. Students will apply their understanding of community engagement, environmental justice, and historical analysis to collaborate with an organization focused on advancing social equity. Through this project, students will gain practical experience in researching and presenting historical narratives with clarity and cultural sensitivity.
